Boy electrocuted, woman’s arm amputated

A 10th class student died Saturday after being electrocuted at Kandi area in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.


A police official told GNS Liyaqat Ali son of Manzoor Ahmad was electrocuted after he came in contact with a live wire while fertilizing his corn field.


“He was shifted to nearby Sub-district hospital Kandi for treatment, where he expired,” he said, adding that a case has been registered in this regard.


“The body has been handed over his relatives for last rites.”


Meanwhile, the relatives and locals in the area staged anti-PDD protests and accused the department of not repairing electric lines.


“An electric line was fell down from an electric pole few days back due to which the 10th class student lost his life”, Mohammad Altaf a local resident said. He blamed PDD for student’s death.


Meanwhile, an arm of a woman was amputated after she was hit by a tipper in north Kashmir’s Sopore, 55 kilometres from summer capital.


Officials said the 37 year old Hasina Begum wife of Shabir Ahmad Khan was hit by a speedy tipper at Mundjee Sopore. “The woman sustained critical injuries and was rushed to JVC Hospital where her right arm was amputated by doctors,” officials said.


Meanwhile, the woman was in need of blood and an army man after being informed donated blood to the injured woman.


An army trooper from 2 Rashtriya Rifles B Company identified as Guprayar Singh donated blood to the woman, the officials said.
