SRINAGAR: Police on Wednesday said to have arrested the Sarpanch of Lari Boniyar and recovered 21 grams of contraband Brown Sugar-like substances from his possession during Naka checking near Bela Boniyar.
A police spokesman in a statement said, “Under the supervision of Showkat Ali-JKPS, SDPO Uri assisted by DySP Prob Kubra Nazir-JKPS SHO PS Boniyar arrested Sarpanch of Lari Boniyar namely Mohammad Amin Banday S/O Anayat Ullah Banday R/O Lari Boniyar during naka checking at Bela Boniyar who was coming towards Boniyar and upon seeing the naka party he tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully.”
He further added, “During their personal search 21 grams of contraband Brown Sugar-like substances were recovered from him, and he was taken into custody immediately.”
A case under NDPS Act was registered in Police Station Boniyar and investigations were set in motion, the spokesman added.
