SRINAGAR: A young doctor has died in his room in Srinagar. Though the death is attributed to a cardiac arrest, it is not confirmed by health authorities.
Identified as Mohammad Rashid Ahanger, 28, he was a resident of Model Town Sopore. A resident of Ghulam Qadir, reports appearing in media said he had died in SMHS hospital.
Sources in GMC, Srinagar said Rashid was a post-graduate student of SKIMS Srinagar.
Offering details, one of his friends said that Dr Rashid was living in a rented room in Bal Garden area of Srinagar. “Up to 7 pm, the family was in touch but he did not pick any phone up to 10 pm,” one of his friends said. “By around 10 pm, they felt compelled to ring up the house owner who found no response from the room locked from inside”. The house owner later broke open the door and found him dead.
The house owner quickly rushed him to neighbouring SMHS Hospital where the doctors declared him brought dead. By then, the family had reached Srinagar. Doctors have said the possible cause could be a cardiac arrest.
Son of an engineer, Rashid was the only son of his parents. His younger sister is also a doctor. Rashid, his friends said was hugely health-conscious and a regular gym-goer.
