NC delegation calls on PM Modi

Reports said that National Conference delegation including Dr Farooq Abdullah, Omar Abdullah and Justice Hasnain Masoodi met prime minister Modi for about 20 minutes and discussed the present situation in Kashmir.

Reports quoted Omar Abdullah, who was part of the delegation as saying that they apprised the prime minister about the situation and the apprehensions of the people in Jammu and Kashmir.

“We discussed two issues with the prime minister. We told him that no step should be taken which will lead to deterioration of the situation in the Kashmir Valley. We also told him that the assembly elections should be held before the end of the year,” reports quoted Omar as having said.

The report quoted Omar said that they have conveyed to the prime minister that the situation in the Kashmir Valley has been improved with great difficulty and it is better than last year, but the situation can deteriorate at any time.

Soon after the meeting Prime Minister, Omar Abdullah took to social networking site Twitter and wrote: “I accompanied @JKNC_  President Dr Farooq Abdullah Sb & Hon MP Justice Masoodi Sb to a meeting with Hon @PMOIndia this morning. During the course of the meeting, we briefed Modi Sb about our assessment of the current situation in the state.”

“We requested him that no precipitous steps of any sort should be taken that may result in a situation in the state, particularly the valley, worsening. We specifically asked him to let subjudice matters be settled by the courts & other matters be settled by an elected government,” Omar wrote on Twitter.

“Dr Abdullah Sb reminded the Hon PM that J&K has been without an elected government for well over a year now and requested him to take all necessary steps to facilitate the @ECISVEEP’s conduct of assembly polls before the onset of winter,” Omar tweeted.

“The meeting took place in a very cordial atmosphere & we are grateful to  @narendramodi  Sb for meeting with us today,” Omar wrote on Twitter.

The meeting comes in the backdrop of the present situation in Kashmir and deployment of 100 additional Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) companies.
