Time to catch up with latest technological innovations: VC

Srinagar: Vice-Chancellor of University of Kashmir Prof Khurshid Iqbal Andrabi said academic and research institutions cannot remain oblivious to catching up with latest technological innovations.

Addressing two-day national-level seminar ‘Electronic Devices, Systems and Information Security’—organized by Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Technology—Prof Andrabi said: “Such conferences should provoke our scientific and creative tendencies to help utilize the technological advancements to the benefit of our stakeholders—students, scholars, faculty members and general public .”

He said such conferences have assumed huge importance in present times when technology is changing rapidly our way of thinking and living.

The two-day seminar ‘SEEDS-2017’ was sponsored by the University Grants Commission to provide a platform to budding researchers to share their findings with the veterans in the field of science and technology.

Dean, Academic Affairs, Prof MA Wani, stressed on engaging experts and professionals from the Industry in curriculum designing. “In our Board of Research Studies meetings, we must make sure that there is involvement of people from the industry so that all departments may reorient their syllabi and curricula in tune with the requirements of the industry and market,” he said.

Head, Department of Food Science and Technology Prof Farooq Masoodi said: “University in its own way is making efforts to respond to the requirements of the market and industry by identifying and addressing various gaps in the research and curriculum designing.”
