Not scared of Yogi Adityanath, I stand by my words: Nizami

Srinagar:

Despite having been served a defamation notice, Congress leader from Banihal Salman Nizami has refused to retract his statement on the elevation of Yogi Adityanath as Chief Minister of Utter Pradesh.

Talking to Kashmir Life from New Delhi, Nizami who is in Indian capital city and working as close aide of ex-CM and Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, said “I am not scared and I stand by my words will reply to the notice through my lawyer. You cannot force someone to sing songs of your choice. I firmly believe, the position Yogi doesn’t deserve the position he has got. Had he been face of BJP in UP, the party would have got a drubbing?”

He added that he is not scared of being targeted for his views on the UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. “Let them do whatever pleases them. My constitution has given me the right to take on every such individual who propagates hatred and communal bias,” added Nizami. It needs to be mentioned here that Supreme Court Lawyer Dr Abhishek Atrey had issued a defamation notice to Senior Congress Leader Salman Nizami over his comments on Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Nizami had written on Twitter: “The man whose man asked Hindus to rape dead Muslims is the new UP’s CM, this is Modi India. In another tweet Nizami wrote “Those celebrating #YogiAdityanath should remember that this country is great only because of its diversity, not coz of these bigots. Nizami on Mar 19 tweeted “Zakir Naik z being hounded despite no evidence agnst him. Yogi Aditynath hs cases of murdr, riots registrd agnst him. He z made the CM of UP!.

This is the fourth incident in a week when someone has been issued notice/ booked for making disparaging remarks against the UP Chief Minister. Yesterday, FIR was registered against Film maker Shirish Kunder at Lucknow’s Hazratganj Police of allegedly making derogatory remarks against Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Soon after, the director offered an unconditional apology through his twitter handle. In another case a man called Rahat Khan was arrested from Noida, for allegedly posting “objectionable” images of Yogi Adityanath on social media platforms. The complainant accused Rahat Khan of uploading an image on his Facebook page and posting objectionable comments about UP Chief Minister.
