In mid-night raid, police arrest hrriyat (g) member In Budgam

Srinagar:  In the run up to Lok Sabha by-polls, the crackdown on pro-freedom groups and civilian population continues in Valley.

Reports said that police raided residence of Hurriyat Conference (g) member, Syed Imtiyaz Haider, during the intervening night of Thursday-Friday.

“Imtiyaz was arrested from his home in the dead of night,” sources in the pro-freedom camp said. “He has been detained in Police Station Budgam.”

Police have rounded over hundred people including elderly in twin districts of Shopian and Pulwama in last two weeks.

The by-polls to Srinagar and Islamabad seats are scheduled for April 9, 12 this year.

On Thursday, at least 25 persons were arrested in Pulwama and Shopian districts. Reports further said that around 65 persons were arrested only for “spreading rumours” on social networking site, WhatsApp.
