Srinagar: Directorate of Health Services, Kashmir(DHSK) Friday organised Divisional and District level awareness programmes on World TB Day 2017. The Divisional seminar was organised at Institute of Hotel Management(IHM),Rajbagh.
On this occasion a rally was organised by District TB Control Society Srinagar in collaboration with State TB Control Society Kashmir in which school students participated. The rally was flagged off by Dr Farooq Ahmad Lone, District Development Commissioner, Srinagar which started from IHM towards Radio Colony and back to IHM,Rajbagh.
According to spokesman, the passersby during the rally were sensitised by the students and medical staff regarding their role in controlling TB in community .They also chanted slogans like “Unite to End TB, I am stopping TB-Do You ,Dou haftoon se Ziyada Khansi, TB hosakta hai and other relevant IECs.
Later a seminar was held at IHM wherein Dr Farooq Ahmed Lone was the Chief Guest and Dr Saleem ur Rehmaan, Director Health Services Kashmir was the Guest of Honor.
Dr Lone during his speech impressed upon all the officers to promote TB awareness campaigns in every nook and corner.
Dr Saleem ur Rehman while speaking on the occasion emphasized upon all officers/officials of Department to accelerate RNTCP activities with zeal and dedication so that desired results are achieved and also to promote TB awareness among masses to remove stigma associated with TB.
Dr Showkat Ali Looloo State TB Officer Kashmir gave an overlook of RNTCP Programme in Kashmir in his welcome speech.
The other speakers who spoke on the occasion were Dr Altaf Ahmad (Deputy Director Schemes), Prof. Dr Parvez Koul (HOD General Medicine SKIMS Soura), Professor Abdul Majeed Ganai,Ex HOD SPM SKIMS, Soura, Dr Ishfaq Ahmad (DTO Srinagar), Mr Ayoub Sabir Poet.
Dr Shameema Wani Director STDC while concluding the seminar expressed her vote of thanks to the participants at the end.
