Doctors Association of Kashmir on Wednesday said that stress related health problems are the most common in journalists working in Kashmir.
DAK on Wednesday held a first ever medical camp exclusively for journalists. As much as 50 journalists were screened on the spot for various issues.
As per the initial findings, most of the journalists were diagnosed with stress related problems and fatty liver, Dr Mir Mushtaq, spokesperson Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) and the coordinator of the camp said.
“Some of them had hypertension, diabetes, gall bladder stones but fatty liver was most common. The problem could be because of the reason that journalists mostly take junk food. But we can’t say more as they will be getting their reports in a few days,” he added.
Dr Mir Mushtaq said that the journalists in Kashmir are working in challenging situations and suggested that they should take out some time for themselves and spend it with their families and friends.
He said that one among the many reasons that journalists are suffering from stress is that they are underpaid.
The health cum screening camp for Media fraternity was organised at Mir Complex, Nowgam on the outskirts of Srinagar. Due to overwhelming response, Dr Mir Mushtaq said that today’s event will be a routine affair and will be repeated twice a year.
