Al-Qaeda has massacred Muslims; New Delhi using locals to defame ‘Kashmir freedom movement’: Resistance leaders

Srinagar

Rejecting the role of global terror outfits like Al-Qaeda and ISIS in Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) on Friday said the struggle in Kashmir was indigenous movement with “first and last” aim of freedom from Indian rule.

In a statement, the resistance leaders Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik said the movement in Kashmir has no “global agenda”.

Rejecting the role of Al-Qaeda or ISIS, the leadership said that such organizations were “extremely dangerous for the Kashmir movement”.

“The struggle in Jammu and Kashmir is purely a local movement. All the peace-loving countries in the world are well aware of the disputed nature of Kashmir. We want this issue to be resolved peacefully,” they said, in the statement.

The leaders said that Al-Qaeda and ISIS have carried out the massacre of Muslims on the pretext of Jihad and Sharia. “They (Al-Qaeda and ISIS) never acted against the occupational forces.”

Without naming Zakir Musa, who was named head of an Al-Qaeda cell yesterday, the leadership said that Indian policymakers and secret agencies have devised a dangerous strategy to defame the freedom struggle in Kashmir by using people from the state.
