Hurriyat Conference (m) on Friday strongly denounced the “imposition of undeclared curfew in downtown”, barring prayers in the historic Jamia Masjid for the sixth consecutive Friday and keeping the chairperson of the amalgam Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house detention for the past more than a month and half.
A spokesman of the amalgam in a statement said there is no let-up in “oppression on the people of Kashmir”. “Kashmiris are killed brutally, arrested and detained, Mosques locked up, curfews imposed, leadership persecuted and citizens harassed. What is worse is that even those forces personnel who are convicted in fake encounter’s are set free in a mockery of justice.”
He said the on-going movement in Kashmir is people’s political struggle based on the priceless sacrifices offered by them from of all age groups over the past several decades. The spokesman said that State is leaving no stone unturned by “resorting to dictatorial and illegal methods” through its agencies which are also used now as its mouthpiece in “justifying oppression” and then giving sermons on propriety and righteousness.
