Governor visits Nunwan and Chandanwari Yatra Camps

Governor NN Vohra, Chairman of Amarnath Shrine Board, visited the Chandanwari Control Gate and Nunwan Yatra Camp to inspect arrangements in place for the ongoing Yatra, which commenced from both the Baltal and Pahalgam Routes on 29th June 2017.  He was accompanied by Sh. Jitendra Kumar Singh, Additional CEO of the Shrine Board.

Governor took stock of the facilities at the Access Control Gate Chandanwari and directed Sh. Sukhpal Singh, Camp Director, and all concerned officers of the District Administration to ensure that there is no impediment in the pilgrimage till its conclusion on 7th August, 2017. Governor visited the Langars at Chandanwari, interacted with the Langarwallahs and had a look at the food which had been prepared for the Yatris.

At Nunwan Base  Camp the Governor went round the Camp, visited the medical units set up by State Health Department, Ayurveda Department and CRPF, visited the Langars and had a look at the food items. Later, he took a meeting with Camp Director Sh. Sham Lal and all the officers involved in the conduct of Yatra. He particulalry reviewed the arrangements regarding Sanitation, functioning of Sewage Treatment Plant (STP), Water and Power supplies, functioning of Medical Units and Langars, availability of essential commodities and LPG etc.

Governor reiterated his earlier directions to Camp Directors at Chandanwari and Nunwan about the need to ensure effective maintenance of sanitation and cleanliness at all the Camps in the Yatra area and, besides, cleanliness along both the Yatra routes. Additional CEO informed that the required number of workers have been engaged for carrying out cleaning on round the clock basis and, in addition, all the Camp Directors have been asked to launch special cleanliness drives in their respective Camps and ensure the segregation and appropriate disposal of all bio-degradable and non-bio-degradable wastes.
