Slain NC Workers Family Demand Arrest Of Assailants

The family members of National Conference senior worker who was shot dead by suspected militants in September last month when 80 per cent Srinagar city was devastated by floods at Khawaja Bazar Srinagar Saturday accused police of inaction and said that no efforts are being made to nab or trace the assailants.


NC leader, Abdul Latif Gupkari who was a trader by profession was shot dead by two motorcycle borne suspected militants on September 21 when he was present in his ready-made garments shop.


Tariq Ahmed Gupkari, the brother of the deceased told CNS that Latif was not killed by militants but it was the handiwork of those elements who were his dreaded foes. He said although a case vide FIR number 88/2014 stands registered in police station Nowhatta, but no one has been arrested so far. “Whenever we approach police station, we are being send back with the assurance that soon the culprits would be arrested,” he said and appealed Inspector General of Police to look into the matter.


When contacted a top police official told CNS that police is thoroughly investigating the matter. “We are on job to get the assailants booked,” he said.
