SRINAGAR: Gusty winds caused significant damage to four houses in Batagund village of Mawer, located in the Handwara area of Kupwara district in north Kashmir.
Local residents reported that the strong winds created havoc in the area on Sunday evening. As a result, four residential houses were affected, and two people were injured during the incident.
One of the injured individuals, a woman named Sharifa Begum, was promptly taken to the hospital for medical treatment. Her condition is reported to be stable.
The other injured person, a ten-year-old boy named Muntazir Ahmad Malla, sustained minor injuries. The families living in Batagund, whose houses were affected, have made a sincere appeal to the local administration for assistance during this challenging time.
The owners of the damaged houses have been identified as Sonullah Malla, Habibullah Shiekh, Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, and Ghulam Rasool War. Sonullah Malla mentioned that he had yet to move into his new house, but the strong winds had completely destroyed it, causing him great distress.
- The affected homeowners are currently dealing with the aftermath of the incident and face the task of repairing and restoring their damaged houses. They expressed a sense of urgency in seeking assistance from the local administration, stating that the extent of the damage caused by the powerful winds requires immediate attention.
