A complete shutdown is being observed for the second consecutive day in Zaingeer belt in northern part of Kashmir’s Sopore in Baramulla district, on Friday against the militant killings.
Reports said that the whole belt remained tense with shops and business establishments shut to protest the militant killings.
Zaingeer belt comprises of 35 villages and all of them observed complete shutdown, reports said.
Two militants were killed in a brief encounter in Nathipora village of Sopore after a joint team of police and army cordoned the house.
Thousands of people participated in the funeral prayers of bothe the militants in their ancestral villages.
Meanwhile, reports pouring in from Trehgam village of Kupwara said that youth assembled outside Markazi Jamia Masjid and raised pro-freedom slogans. “They pelted stones on police men deployed at the spot.” The protests triggered partial shutdown. “The traffic went off and shopkeepers downed their shutters.”
Locals said that police men have been deployed on the Poshpora-Trehgam road which is unusual.
