SRINAGAR
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth wing president, Waheed Ur Rehman Parra, Monday called upon girl students “to seek inspiration” from chief minister, Ms Mehbooba Mufti, “in order to achieve their dreams”.
“You have a great inspiration before you in the shape of Mehbooba Ji. She has strived hard to reach such a position. You too have the potential to do undoable,” Para told the students of Government Girls Higher Secondary School, Kothibagh in Srinagar.
Lauding the Ms Mufti led government efforts viz-a-viz women empowerment, Para said, “with a woman chief minister at the helm of affairs, we expect female folk of our state to take advantage of any such initiative from the government which will ensure their empowerment and participation.”
“Women have become worst victims of the on-going political uncertainty in the region but that did not stop them to make an impact on ground,” he said, “Kashmir has been producing brilliant female doctors, teachers, lawyers, journalists, activists, sportspersons and even women politicians. That gives a sense of achievement.”
Para called upon the young students to make target oriented goals and strive to achieve them without any fear. “You have a women chief minister here. If you feel like having any problem, her doors are always to welcome you,” he said.
Answering questions from the students, the PDP youth president said, “J&K is going through a critical phase but the PDP-led government is making every effort to get it out of mess.” “Youth have an important role to shape a new discourse based on participation, inclusiveness and goodwill.”
Seeking suggestions from the audiences to streamline the governance system in the state, Para assured them that with help of people “there will be a total change on the ground after five years, when this completes its term”.
