Mian Altaf Owns Land Worth Rs 8.20 Cr

mian altaf J&K forest minister Mian Altaf Ahmad owns land worth Rs 8.20 crore across the state, the affidavit which is part of his nomination papers reveals. He owns 149 kanals of land in Kangan belt, around Wangat, his residence, wherefrom he is contesting polls.


All this land purchased in April 2006 for Rs 1.14 lakh values Rs 7.50 crores now, the affidavit suggests.


Though two pages of his detailed affidavit are missing from the election commission website, the remaining pages suggest that Mian Altaf has declared having Rs five lakh in cash in hand in addition to Rs 1464807 and Rs 507200 in two separate bank accounts in addition to three FDRs of Rs 10 lakh each.


Mian is one of the many signatories to a bank account belonging to the shrine of Babaji Saheb that has deposits of Rs 4808949 in it. The shrine is managed by his father Mian Bashir Ahmad, a respected Gujjar leader.


Mian has inherited a house at Wangat and owns another one in Sanjwan Jammu. Details of his other houses may be listed on the missing pages not available on the website. His only liability is a Rs 2 lakh housing loan that is still outstanding.


In the declarations that Mian made in his 2008 affidavit, he had put his cash in hand at Rs 3 lakh with additional Rs 26 lakh in his bank accounts. Then, he owned a tipper truck and a stone crusher besides 100 gms of gold worth Rs 1.5 lakh.


According to 2008 declaration, Mian Altaf inherited a 100 kanal orchard in Wangat (missing in his 2014 declaration) besides a plot at Sanjwun costing Rs 30 lakh. Besides, he had declared owning a house each at Vidhata Nagar Jammu (then worth Rs 70 lakhs), Wangat and Chunner in Kangan valuing Rs 15 lakh. He also owned 35 kanals of land at Kalakot valuing Rs 5 lakh. Then his liabilities were around Rs 5 lakh, the affidavit said.
