Pulwama shuts to mourn civilian, militant killings

Srinagar

A complete shutdown is being observed in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district against the killings of militants and a civilian during a gunfight between the government forces and militants in Pinglina village of district Pulwama on Monday.

Reports said that all business establishments, private institutions are closed in both the areas while public transport is off the roads.

During the encounter on Monday, four army personnel, a policeman, three militants and one civilian were killed and more than five forces personnel were injured including DIG south Kashmir.

Meanwhile, nine others were injured in the encounter including DIG south Kashmir range, Amit Kumar who got a superficial injury after a bullet passed his leg. The injured also included a lieutenant colonel and Brigadier Harbeer Singh. The latter was heading 12 Sector RR.
