Srinagar
An encounter is underway between militants and the government forces in Nowgam area of the outskirts of Srinagar.
Reports said that a joint team of Army’s 50RR, Police and CRPF on specific information about the presence of some militants cordoned off Nowgam area.
As soon as government forces zeroed on to the suspected house, the hiding militants fired upon government forces triggering an encounter.
“Encounter is going on at the outskirts of Srinagar. The area under cordon. Details will follow,” police said on Twitter.
Till this report was filed intermittent exchange firing was going on.
