Police foil Geelani’s march towards Shopian

Authorities on Wednesday foiled scheduled ‘Shopian Chalo’ programme of resistance leadership by clamping curfew-like situation in and around Geelani Sahab’s residence, said spokesman.

The spokesman said that all the roads leading to Geelani Sahab’s residence were sealed by government forces including police and CRPF while they had also erected barricades outside the office.

“Geelani Sahab came out of his residence-cum-office at 12:15 noon, but the police and CRPF didn’t allow him to visit Shopian. It is to also mention here that the even office employees were not allowed to attend the Office,” said the spokesman.

Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) comprising Syed Ali Geelani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik has called for ‘Shopian Chalo’ today to express solidarity with the families of the youth who were killed in army firing.
