Protests in Chattabal area of Srinagar against alleged ‘braid chopping’

Clashes erupted in Chattabal area of srinagar on Saturday after locals started protesting against the “alleged braid chopping” of a girl.

Locals said that during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, unknown persons entered into a house and chopped the braid of a girl. They identified the victim girl as Maryam.

“Two unknown persons including a girl entered Maryam’s house at around 10 pm last night and chopped her hair. “We tried to catch hold of them but they managed to escape,” a local said.

Soon after the incident, scores of people including men and women took to streets to stage a protest. However, locals said, they diapersed since it was the dead of the night.
