The establishment of durable peace in South Asia was impossible without solution to Kashmir issue, Pakistan’s permanent representative to the United Nations (UN) Maleeha Lodhi told representatives from member states on Wednesday.

“The people of Kashmir are overwhelmed by the passion for independence and determined for their right to self-determination,” said Maleeha Lodhi, in her address with members at a meeting of UN Third Committee.

“Pakistan wants the solution to Kashmir issue to be in accordance with the will of Kashmiri people and the international resolutions,” she added. “We reject the ethnic and religious discrimination in Indian-occupied Kashmir.”

“The deprivation of the right to self-determination of millions of people in Kashmir is a tragedy of the 21st century,” Lodhi lamented. “The Kashmiri people have been awaiting the implementation of Security Council resolutions.”

She contended that Indian “barbarism” was a major impediment to the determination of the future of Kashmiris and they wanted “freedom” from at any cost.

“Kashmiri youth are armed with nothing more than a hunger for freedom in their hearts and a belief in the righteousness of their cause,” Lodhi tweeted later about the event. “Pakistan remains committed to a just solution of Kashmir in line with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people & Security Council resolutions.”

“We condemn critical pellet gun wounds sustained by two boys during an anti-freedom raid by Indian occupation forces in Jinab-Sahab area of IoK,” FO spokesperson Nafees Zakaria said on Twitter.

“So far over 1000 Kashmiris in IoK have been blinded either partially or fully…Indian forces on a rampage to maim, blind or kill an entire generation,” Zakaria slammed.
