Clashes erupted in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Monday evening.
Reports said that police and para-military troopers raided Kurhama village around 4:30 PM today.
“Many vehicles carrying police and CRPF men came to our village apparently to arrest youths,” local sources from the area said. “The forces settled down for at least half an hour up to 5 PM.”
“Thereafter they entered some houses and arrested at least three persons including a guest,” local sources said.
“They damaged window panes and other private property evoking intense clashes in the area,” they added.
The locals said that the forces enter homes without “any respect for anyone”. “We are not safe inside our homes,” they said, “we have sent our daughters and sisters to other places.”
The sources said that following the arrests, locals took out a pro-freedom procession in the area.
Meanwhile, reports said that clashes erupted in North Kashmir’s Trehgam village in Kupwara district.
“Police and CRPF fired tear gas shells and pellets injuring many,” local sources said, “at least two youths have been referred for advanced treatment.”
