Jama’at Islami Jammu and Kashmir (JeI) Monday strongly denounced the “unjustified” arrest of a number of youth in Pulwama and Kakapora towns and alleged forces of implicating innocent youth on flimsy and fabricated charges and subjecting them to third degree inhuman torture.

In a statement, JeI spokesperson Advocate Zahid Ali said these innocent detainees include some prominent religious and social personalities of the locality, like a known preacher Abdul Rehman Shaheen of Letar village.

“Police has let loose a reign of terror in the area resulting in the general harassment of the public,” the spokesperson said. “Jama’at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir (JeI) demands unconditional release of all the detainees and stopping the intimidation of the local people.”
