Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, J&K’s ailing chief minster admitted in Delhi’s AIIMS has already set the rumour mills on fire back in Kashmir. Amid speculations, PDP’s partymen arranged special prayers for their patron on Wednesday. The venue was Old City’s Dastgeer Sahib Shrine, where PDP’s General Secretary, Nizam Ud Din Bhat, turned up with his supporters to sit in for a special prayers for Mufti’s health. Nizam entered the shrine as a doleful man to offer special prayers of his party leader. Back in Delhi, the doctors treating Mufti are behaving like weird wardens, expressing hope amid despair. Latest is, CM has been “sedated”, put on “oxygen therapy”. This, they say, will help CM to recover fast. But in Khanyar, the mood was totally at odds.
Earlier, PDP supporters turned up and decorated the space close to the shrine with banners inked with prayers for Mufti. While the locals and onlookers shrugged off the scenes, the occasion was the ‘adrenaline rush’ moment for PDP’s foot soldiers. And then walked Nizam of Bandipora for the special duty.
Meanwhile, inside the shrine, the ‘men on mission’ were busy praying. Throughout the special stay, Nizam was engrossed in prayers for the chief minister. But the latest update now coming from Delhi might not please him: “JK CM Mufti shows no improvement, doctors say condition critical.”
When he finally walked out, Nizam was seen distributing tahri among his men – gathered outside the shrine – as a ‘token of salvation’. Back in Delhi, as sedated Mufti continues to be in ICU, the doctors also maintain: “He is responding to commands, opens his eyes, which is a positive sign. He is not in coma.” With this update, Nizam can have some respite now!
