Congress leader Shashi Tharoor Monday said that the hanging of Parliament attack convict Mohammad Afzal Guru was “wrong” and badly handled.
Embarrassing his own party, which was in power at the time of when Afzal was hanged Tharoor said, “I think the hanging was both wrong & badly handled.”
He added “his family should have been given a last meeting & body returned,” Tharoor, a Congress MP from Kerala, tweeted today.
The comments follow the joint statement of five Congress lawmakers in Jammu and Kashmir in which they admitted that Afzal Guru’s hanging was a “mistake.”
