Biscoe Boy, Who Could Be Kashmir’s Ski Star Soon

SRINAGAR: It was a sweet surprise the last year. At the morning assembly of Tyndale Biscoe and Mallinson School, in the last week of December, it was announced that a Biscoe boy from the twelfth class is heading his way to South Korea, for skiing.

Invited by Dream Program 2023, the skier, Romaan-ul-Madina is on his way to be part of the competition in the Gangwon province, South Korea. It starts on January 5 and concludes on January 20, 2023.

Romaan is a highly talented and skilled skier. He began his ski journey at a very young age and has been quite impressively active at it. His first ski course was part of his school’s extra-curricular activity.

Taking a keen interest in the sport, by the time, Romaan was in his tenth standard, he was participating in the Ski Nationals, as a representative of Jammu and Kashmir. His passion for the sport was so excelling, that he was promoted to a prefect at school.

His flight to South Korea will be his first international trip for the sport he loves so much.

Prior to his selection for the top skiing camp, Romaan would take part in local and national ski events. To date, Romaan has participated in six national Ski events and has bagged six national medals, including a gold, two silvers and three bronze medals.

Dream Program 2023 is an annual winter sports training camp, which aims and promotes synchronization of the youth around the world, and gives them the proper direction and exposure for maturing in the field of winter sports. One of the goals of this programme are to prepare well athletes for Winter Olympics and other International games as well. The programme comprises various winter sports, such as Ski, Snowboarding, ice skating, ice hockey, slalom etc. This year’s Dream Program consists of 2398 participants from 95 countries.
