The Saffron bulbs are in a copper tray and it is intelligently placed on a papier machie plate. Sinha had called on Modi during the day.
Reports appearing in the media suggest that Sinha has briefed the Prime Minister about the recommendations of Apex Committee on ‘holistic development of Agriculture and Allied Sectors’ for raising farmers’ income and time-bound implementation of reforms to boost agriculture exports, creation of modern infrastructure and value chains.
“A special gift of gratitude to Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji from people of J&K,” Sinha said in a tweet. “In ancient Indian tradition, Saffron is referred as ‘Bahukam’. As harvest festivity draws near, symbol of joy & light GI tagged exquisite & enchanting produce is ready to be delivered globally. ”
Kashmir had a bumper Saffron yield this year. There is an expectation that the turnover will cross Rs 300 crore this season. Timely rains played a key role in improving the quality and quantity of the world’s costliest spice that Kashmir has a monopoly on. Even though Saffron is produced by Spain, Afghanistan, Iran and many other countries, Kashmir saffron sells at double the cost because of its impressive quality.
In 2020, Kashmir produced 13.36 metric tones of Saffron, according to officials and went down because of adverse weather conditions.
