Police on Tuesday late evening identified the second slain militant killed in south Kashmir gunfight as Abbas Ahmad Bhat a resident of Awantipora.
A police spokesman in a statement said that the slain militant was affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant outfit and was wanted by law for his complicity in series of crimes including attack on security establishments and civilian atrocities.
He said that according to police records, the slain was part of group involved in planning and excuting series of attacks in the area and many other civilian atrocities. Several cases were registered against him.
“Incriminating material including arms and ammunition were recovered from the site of encounter.All the materials have been taken into case records for further investigation and probe their complicity in other crimes,” said the spokesman.
“People are requested to cooperate with police till the area is completely sanitized and cleared of all the explosive materials if any, said police spokesman in a statement.
Earlier a militant identified as Ufaid Lone a resident of Awantipora was killed and a civilian identified as Sabzar Ahmad Bhat was also hit by the bullet near the site of the encounter.
