Two militants were killed on Wednesday early morning in an encounter in Sothu Kothair area of Nowgam in Srinagar.
Reports said that the gunfight started after a joint team of army’s 55 Rashtriya Rifles, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon and search operation in Sathu area of Nowgam in Srinagar district after receiving specific intelligence inputs about the presence of militants.
An official said that two militants have been killed, but there identity is yet to be ascertained, said an official.
Sources identified the slain militants as Sabzar Sofi of Sangam, Anantnag and Asif Ahmad Gojri of Anantnag. However, there was no immediate official confirmation.
