Islamabad shuts against alleged police highhandedness

A complete shutdown is being observed in Islamabad district on Saturday.

Locals alleged that a tear gas shell landed into a residential house in Reshi Bazar in old town on Friday which burst four houses into flames.

Scores of the youth assembled in main town Islamabad raising pro freedom slogans against the “highhandedness of police”.  Clashes between youth and forces are going in the area.

All the business establishments, schools and government offices are shut.

Meanwhile a local trader’s body of Islamabad carried out a protest rally in main town Lal Chowk Islamabad to protest the forces’ highhandedness.

On Friday, police in the district resorted to massive tear smoke shelling on the civilian protesters who were protesting against the killing of Hizb commander Sabzar Bhat. Bhat was killed in an encounter in Saimoh village of Tral last Saturday.

Reports said that one of the shells landed on one of the four houses which led to a massive inferno. All the four houses were gutted in the blaze.
