After Kishtwar, Bhadarwah town of Chenab Valley also observed shut down against the killing of Hizbul Mujhadeen commander Sabzar Ahmed Bhat.
Bhat along with his associate Faizan Muzaffar was killed in an encounter at Saimouh village of Tral town of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
Reports from Bhadarwah town said that shops, business establishments and private schools belonging to Muslim community remained shut.
The call for shutdown was forwarded by the Anjuam-e-Islamia. In wake of the strike call, authorities have made elaborate security arrangements in all the major towns of the district, including Doda, Thathri, Gandoh, Kahara and Bhadarwah. Reports however said that government schools, offices and banks functioned normally while transport also plied smoothly on the roads.
President Anjuman-e-Islamia Pervaiz Ahmed Sheikh alleged that Government of India is not keen to engage the stake-holders and it has miserably failed to restore the peace in Kashmir Valley. “Unfortunately, after every killing in Kashmir, politicians come up with provocative statements. Let us make it clear to all the hypocrites that Muslims of Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal stand for the cause of Kashmir,” he said. (CNS)
