Creating a scare in the belt, two gunmen shot at Fayaz Ahmad Bhaty at Kandizal, on the other side of Pampore. He died almost instantly.
Though police in Kakpora, in whose territorial jurisdiction the area falls, was not immediately contact, residents told Kashmir Life that Fayaz died almost instantly on the spot. He was driven to Pampore hospital where he was reported brought dead.
Son of Abdul Gani Bhat, Fayaz was a local Sarpanch. His party affiliations were not immediately known. He was around 33 years of age.
However, a police sources suggested that he was with the NC. He had not many details.
