Jammu and Kashmir Government Tuesday said that 119 youth from North Kashmir’s Palhallan were arrested in last nine years.
In a written reply to ruling PDP lawmaker, Abid Hussain Ansari, In charge Home department, said that no person has been arrested “unwarrantedly” in the state of J&K in general and in Palhallan area, in particular.
The North Kashmir town has witnessed volatile situation particularly post 2008 civil uprising. The youth of the area has been intermittently rising in protests against the “government atrocities”. Many of the youth from the area have also lost their lives during the protests.
“Since 2008 up to 18-05-2016, 119 youth involved in stone pelting incidents in Palhallan area have been arrested and all of them have been bailed out,” the government said.
