Preliminary reports say a 25-year-old youth has succumbed to injuries after forces allegedly fired on protesters in South Kashmir town of Pulwama Wednesday.

Identified as Parvaiz Ahmad from the Nina village, the injured youth is said to have succumbed to his injuries at a local health centre.

Earlier protests turned violent after a group of youth set ablaze an armoured police vehicle. The area was rocked by angry demonstrations in wake of the death of a local Hizb militant—Shakir Ahmad of Bandina village—during a fight with forces in Naina Batpora village.

Police burst teargas shells to disperse the protesters who, however, refused to relent.

Meanwhile, the police spokesperson feigned ignorance over the volatile situation emerging from Pulwama.
