Three Arrested in Udhampur for Carrying Poppy

SRINAGAR

Police on Thursday said it arrested three persons for possessing 29 kgs of poppy in their vehicles on Jammu-Srinagar highway in Udhampur district of J&K.

“A truck on its way from Srinagar to Punjab was intercepted on highway at Jakhani area in Udhampur district last night and 25 kgs of poppy was recovered,” a police statement said this evening.

“Two persons – Desh Raj and Hardev Singh- were arrested,” they said, adding that a case has been registered against them.

In another case, police recovered 4 kgs of poppy from a truck on highway in Domail area in Udhampur district and arrested driver Mehraj last night, police said, adding that a case has been registered in this regard.
