Road Accidents Claim Tow Lives in Kashmir

Two persons died while eleven others were injured in different road accidents across the valley, police said Sunday evening.

In Pulwama, eight persons were injured when a Tempo Traveller bearing registration number JK06-5288, they were boarding met with an accident at Drangbal Pampore. All the injured have been shifted to the Hospital for treatment.

In Shopian, a Motorcycle skidded off the road at Nawa Link Road, resulting in injuries to two pillions identified as Mohammad Jabar and Tawqeer Ahmad both resident of Sampole Bihar. Both the injured were shifted to the Hospital for treatment.

In Kulgam, a passenger vehicle bearing registration number JK03A-6532 hit a pedestrian Sara Begum resident of Rampora Qoimoh on general road Qoimoh. The injured lady was shifted to the District Hospital Islamabad where she succumbed to her injuries.

In Sopore, a truck bearing registration number JK05C-8319 Sopore collided with a motorcycle bearing registration number Jk05A-4835 at Green Town Sopore, resulting in injuries to motorcyclist Mohammad Ashraf Gadoo and a pillion Noor Mohammad resident of Asham Bandipora. Both the injured were shifted to Sub District Hospital Sopore for treatment where from motorcyclist Mohammad Ashraf was referred to SKIMS Soura Srinagar where he succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, residential house was damaged in fire in Ganderbal last evening.

Fire broke out in the residential house of Habib-u-llah War son of Mohammad Shaban resident of Manigam, resulting in partial damage to the house. Fire was brought under control with the help of fire tenders, police and locals of the area.

The police statement further said that a drug peddler was arrested in Bijbehara and a huge quantity of prescription drugs was recovered from him.

Continuing its drive against the drug menace, a police party headed by SDPO Bijbehara Irshad Ahmad Rather in village Tulkhan near Bye-pass area found one person carrying a jute sac in suspicious circumstances. The police party tried to stop him but he fled away from the spot leaving behind a sac containing 175 bottles of Ran-codex (Codeine Phosphate), soon after police arrested the accused identified as Javid Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rashid resident of Tulkhun. A case FIR number192/2015 under section 8/21/22 NDPS was registered and investigation was taken up.
