Says India Pakistan can talk Kashmir Dispute at UN but elected representatives can’t utter a single word about it
MLA Langate and AIP chief Er Rashid Saturday cornered J&K government “forcefully” over various important issues in the assembly as soon as the Autumn session of assembly began this morning in Srinagar.
“As soon as Speaker started business by tabling obituary motion, Rashid got up from his seat displaying a banner seeking: “No Interference in Religious affairs”, a party statement said.
He said, “those who died (in last six months including former legislators) don’t need our certificates and we are here to care for those who are alive.”
Rashid tried to go into the Well of the house accusing speaker of being “biased and depriving MLAs of their rights by acting as an agent, mouth piece and proxy of RSS, VHP, Bajrang Dal and BJP”.
He asked speaker about the fate of bill on Beef Ban and also sought explanation why he disallowed resolution seeking consensus to protect Article 35 A. Rashid also charged PM Narendra Modi of being “communal and added why he didn’t uttered a single word to condemn the brutal killing of Ikhlaq Ahmad by Hindu extremists in UP?”
“Judiciary has no right to interfere into the religious rights of Muslims and assembly must understand that the state being Muslim dominated State, cannot be ruled or controlled by Mohan Bhagwat, Parveen Togadia and other radical elements. Why has government moved to Supreme Court, rather it must pass the bill seeking abolishing of section 298 A/B in the assembly. GoI has not only deprived people of J&K of their political rights but has also started interfering into their religious rights, which majority community is determined to resist at all costs,” Rashid said. “Isn’t it shameful that India and Pakistan can talk about Jammu & Kashmir dispute in the United Nations and elsewhere but the elected representatives of State are acting like puppets and proxies of New Delhi and don’t dare and care even to utter a single word for resolution of Kashmir issue.”
He added, “New Delhi has always disgraced and discredited state legislature and the public representatives have failed to represent true aspirations and sentiments of people.”
He termed paying homage by State assembly to those who lost their lives during Hajj as a “cruel joke”, by saying that who doesn’t know how difficult it is for Kashmiris to get even a Hajj Passport. “Let the house ask army why the culprits of Machil fake encounter should not be hanged and what sought of Justice is it that you hang Afzal Guru and Yaqoub Memon to satisfy the dirty conscience of few radical elements,” the party statement said.
He asked CM Mufti to tell the people of the State what wrong has (G M) Khan Sopori done that his residential house on 5 Marlas of land stands seized for years.
While pointing towards Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Rashid, the party statement said, “reminded him of his tall promises he had made with Kashmiris from time to time and pass a candid comment towards him while narrating couplets of Habib Jalib.”
He also accused government of ruining flood hit victims by treating J&K like its colony and doing nothing to rehabilitate the flood victims.
He criticised also government for forcing NYCs and Daily Wagers to go for hunger strike and accused PDP of cheating and letting down people on all fronts and selling its conscience for power. He later on boycotted the proceedings of the day and staged walk out from the house.
