SRINAGAR
A teenage girl drowned in river Jehlum Tuesday while her sister was rescued when a small boat they were sailing in capsized at Hajin, Bandipora.
Two sisters, 14-year-old Jawa and 10-year-old Julie, daughters of Bashir Ahmad Guroo of Rakhi Hajan, Paribal were sailing in a small boat, which capsized near Hajan bridge Jhelum.
However, Jawa was rescued by some locals while Juli drowned in the river.
Police has launched search to retrieve her body from the river. Marine Commandos, Marcos, were also pressed into service, police said.
