Intermittent Precipitation Continues in Kashmir

Intermittent snowfall continued in Kashmir Valley for the second day Tuesday forcing the closure of Srinagar-Jammu highway.


The local MeT Department has warned of heavy to moderate snowfall in some areas of the state.


More than two feet snow was recorded at Gulmarg in the afternoon, official sources said.


The reports of snowfall have been received from almost all parts of the Valley.


Srinagar, the summer capital recorded 1.7 cm of fresh snow during the night, they said, adding the mercury in city settled at a low of 0.6 degree Celsius, up by over a degree from yesterday’s minus 1.0 degree Celsius.


Pahalgam hill resort in south Kashmir, recorded 17 cm of snow and the mercury there settled at a low of minus 0.8 degree Celsius, compared to minus 0.6 degree Celsius the previous night, they said.
