Mufti Visits Deva’s Residence To Offer Condolences

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed visited the residence of late Abdul Salam Deva Sunday to offer condolences to the bereaved family.


A former minister and veteran National Conference leader Abdul Salam Deva (83) passed away on November 4 after brief illness at his residence at Homshalibugh in this south Kashmir district.


Deva had joined politics in 1947 at the age of 16 and was associated with Plebiscite Front.


He was a member of the Legislative Assembly from 1977 to 1987 and became a minister in the Sheikh Abdullah-led government in the state.


Deva, who had been associated with various social, religious and educational bodies during his youth, had also served as Kashmir Provincial President of National Conference.


Expressing grief and sorrow over Deva’s demise, Mufti said his contribution in public life would be remembered for a long time to come.


Mufti offered special prayers for the eternal peace of the departed soul. He was accompanied by PDP district president Poonch, Abdul Qayoom Dar.
